Crane Park
KAWO is excited to invite you to our 26th annual Fall Native Plant Exchange, held for the first time this year at beautiful Crane Park. We are delighted that the Crane Park Beautification Project members have invited KAWO’s plant exchange to their park. It’s obvious that they have given unlimited amounts of time and love to the restoration of this park, and as a 55-year resident, KAWO president Noel Ocen can attest to the significant improvements they have made. We look forward to seeing you on September 7.
ONLY native Michigan plants, lovingly grown and donated by our members and friends, are available to everyone. You do not have to be a member to adopt some beautiful native plants—just promise them a good home. Early attendees are asked to limit their adoptions to 5 plants so the latecomers will still have a selection. After 3pm, please take as many plants as you can provide space for.
PLANT DROP OFF BEGINNING AT 9am.
Native plants donated for sharing should be dropped off between at 9am and 12:45 pm on the day of the exchange, Sept. 7.
Drop off plants at the main entrance to the park—the intersection of CRANE AVE. and GRANDVIEW. There will be helpers to assist with unloading.
Because we are using a public facility, plants cannot be dropped off before the morning of the exchange. If you want to donate plants, but will not be in town for the exchange, please email [email protected] and we will try to make other arrangements with you.
PLANT DONATIONS: All donated plants must be native to Michigan, should have an identification tag or label, and should be potted for ease of transplanting.
GARDEN TOURS: The Crane Park Beautification Project members will be conducting 2 tours of the Crane Park gardens during the exchange. The 2pm Tour will include a history of the entire Crane Park area. The 3pm Tour will concentrate on the recent addition of native plant gardens.
ALERT: We have heard reports that the ASIAN JUMPING WORM has been found in our area. Please learn about this invasive species, and inspect your property to make sure you aren’t spreading these worms to anyone else.
PARKNG: There is ample parking on Crane and Grandview—just don’t park too close to the loading zone. Thank you.
